Shona (gourdongirl) has posted Corstorphine Hill Cemetery
within which there are a number of post war graves.
See page 6 of http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=1216&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75
for example.
The gravestones are similar to CWGC stones. (provided by MOD ??)
Why so many ?? Was this a "designated" cemetery for the military???
Is this why there are so many Polish graves ??
Anyone know the story??

Ken

Ken

There are standard CWGC headstones and also two Non World War (NWW) type headstones being used.
CWGC use one style where the NWW grave is in one of their cemeteries / plots. Clearly there is a CWGC plot here, likely due to the Turnhouse related and Polish burials here.

In other areas the Army / Navy style NWW stone provided by MOD is being used. They will be maintained for them under contract by CWGC.

There are others here which are private stones in the " style " of war grave stones ie. copies. CWGC have no interest in them.
