Many thanks to Ghostwhisperer for posting the cross to Lt Col Anderson VC in the Invershin Cemetery thread.

http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=55

I thought it was in Tutim Cemetery but that doesn't really matter. What has astounded me is that William Anderson VC is the brother in law of this man.

GILMOUR Allan
Rank: Captain

Died: Died of wounds 16.12.17 (Wounded 24.10.17 at Salmah, Macedonia)

Parents: William E. and Jessie Gertrude Gilmour
Spouse: Mary (MacDonald) Gilmour of Woodbank, Alexandria (m. Aug. 1915)
Son: Allan (Later Colonel Sir Allan Gilmour KCVO MC of Rosehall)
Home: Alexandria, Dunbartonshire
Job: Connected to the United Turkey Red Company Ltd. (a textile print works), Alexandria.
Commissioned: 1.8.14. Promoted to Captain 12.5.16
Notes: Formerly 2nd Lovat Scouts
Buried: Lahana Military Cemetery, Greece

Listed on the Alexandria Parish Church Memorial, Alexandria, Dunbartonshire
Commemorated by the Gilmour Piping Medal
Listed on his wife's grave in Invershin Cemetery
Recorded in the roll of honour 'The Men of Lochbroom 1914-1918'

The astounding thing is that these two men are each commemorated on so many memorials in Scotland and are actually related by marriage!

This isn't really a query or request but don't really know where to post it.

Looking into Gilmour a bit further he worked for a textile printers in Alexandria before the War. The United Turkey Red Company was taken over in 1960 and the Alexandria factory was closed. I'll bet that company had a Roll of Honour or memorial with Gilmour's name on it. Unfortunately it will have disappeared long ago.

Some of the Company's records are kept by Glasgow University

http://www.nahste.ac.uk/cgi-bin/view_isad.pl?id=GB-0248-UGD-013&view=basic

They include these records

administrative records (1826-1934)
staff records (1845-1916)
financial records (1845-1939)
production records (1873-1934)

They should have more information on Gilmour and any rolls / memorials the company may have had which may confirm Gilmour's inclusion on yet another memorial.

William Anderson is commemorated on a plaque in Glasgow Cathedral along with his three brothers who also died in the war. They are also listed on the Fettes College War Memorial in Edinburgh

He is listed on his own at:
Cardross, Dunbartonshire
Glasgow Academy War Memorial
Largo Parish War Memorial, Lundin Links, Fife
Upper Largo Church Memorial, Lundin Links, Fife

Thanks to Mark Duffy on the War memorial forum for this photograph of Anderson
