On the assumption you are referring to WW2 have you tried this site?

If it is WW1 I am not sure how deep they go into that period

If you have a date of death, I have a few books I could look up. If you know his RAF squadron as well, that would help.

and this from CWGC

Name: HAY, BARRY CAMPBELL
Initials: B C
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Aircraftman 2nd Class (Air Gnr. U/T)
Regiment/Service: Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve
Age: 19
Date of Death: 06/01/1945
Service No: 1823249
Additional information: Son of William and Rebecca Hay, of Edinburgh.
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Grave/Memorial Reference: Sec. J. Grave 131.
Cemetery: EDINBURGH (LIBERTON) CEMETERY

The abbreviations mean that he was ATC (Air Training Command) and UT/ will be upper turret. So he was probably still in training, given his age he was unlikely to have been an instructor. Will see if I can find an air crash that ties in with it.

I have checked my references and he did not die in a Bomber Command or Training Unit air crash on that date so it is likely that he either died in a ground incident or of illness.

The only way to be sure is to get his death certificate or his service records which should be available to close family members (at a fee) from RAF Innsworth.

Garry - you are causing some duplication of effort by posting this man twice. Once you have started a request, it's helpful to just add to it.

His death appears to have been registered in Carmarthenshire.
