Explanation of MC 'terminology' please.

This query is about Robert Shaw (Army Pensioner, 4th Bn. Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders), buried in Ballengeich Cemetery, Stirling.

See Pg. 7 on this thread: http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?p=6342#6342

The inscription says his death in 1918 was 'of wounds'

The following is his Medal Card which says he was discharged in 1915 - the cause of which was 'Para 39 2 x VI H B (or R?). Of course I haven't a clue what this means! (Can't find any Service Records).

His Death Certificate gives his cause of death (aged 42, not 44 as it says on the stone) as Valvular Disease Heart Nephritis.

So, would his cause of death be service related?

Category xvi : No longer physically fit for service

What the "H" and "R" depict I'm not quite sure.

The death certificate states heart and kidney disease as the causes of death, certainly no mention of wounds.

Derek & ADP - thanks for your replies.

I suppose his wounds could have been caused working in the pit, but I doubt if we'll never know!
